Chris Rushton: Antoni Gaudi - genius or madman?

Antoni Gaudi (1852 – 1926) was a truly inspiring architect who
still lights the world with his extraordinary ability to be like no other in creating a reflection in building form and ornamentation of the beauty of our creation and world. Many of you will have seen his work in Barcelona, especially the Sagrada Familia church.
Gaudí's work was influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. He considered every detail of his creations and combined crafts such as ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry. He introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials, such as trencadis which used waste ceramic pieces. This talk will explore Gaudi’s works, most of which,
including Sagrada Família, Casa Milà, Casa Batlló, and Park Güell
are in Barcelona and blend influences from nature, religion, and Gothic revival. Known as "God’s Architect," seven of his creations are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
