Social Walking B

Status:Active, open to new members
When: Weekly on Tuesday all day 9:20 am
Except first Tuesday when the walk is on the Thursday

Coordinators: Nigel Nixon and Chris Traynier

B walks have up to 800m (2,600 feet) of climbing and are up to 16km (10 miles), taken at a good pace. Between April and October we use the longer days to include some more demanding walks, referred to as B+.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS - see below.

We meet by 09.20 at the starting point stated for each event to be ready for a prompt start at 9:30. If possible we end the day at a cafe.

The list of planned walks including dates and walk leader is below. We walk regularly on Tuesdays except for the first Tuesday of the month when some members attend Natural History meetings and we walk on Thursday instead.

For safety advice see the Adventure Smart web site. This site is full of essential advice for walking in the fells. At the tab "How and when and get help" it tells you how to preregister your phone with the emergency services to enable you to send a text for help if the mobile signal is not strong enough for voice communication. The group carries an emergency beacon for use when there is no mobile signal.

All walkers should read the section on safety, and leaders should also read about their responsibility by clicking on the button (right)

Some snowy walks

We have photographic and simple descriptive records of our weekly B and C Group walks from 2015 onwards on a Google Drive, organised by year. Thanks are due to the many members of these groups for providing the photos.

There is a similar record of our group holiday in Spain in March 2023.

Some recent peaks come rain, wind, mist and shine
